Tip! The cleats should be high, so that you can easily reach them in the water. Adjust the line so that the ice cleats are at the right height. If the ice breaks - try to take it easy. Tread water and turn towards the direction you came from - where you know the ice will hold. Hook the cleats as far forward as possible and swim with your legs to bring them to the surface. When you get up - slide yourself to safe ice. Practice with the ice spikes in safe conditions so you are prepared if an accident occurs!
